Breaking Borders: The Stories Our Bodies Tell

From their website:

“Description

How do we break borders? For some, it's through our voices and our lived experiences. For others, it's taking a more passive role and listening to the stories of those who have been previously silenced. Join the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence and Grace Talusan, author of The Body Papers and winner of the 2017 Prize for New Immigrant Writing, for an evening of conversation about the immigrant experience.

This event will give voice to the immigrant/refugee population, especially those who identify as Asian and/or Pacific Islander. By raising awareness about domestic violence and the unique struggles that immigrants (API victims specifically) experience, we aim to uplift marginalized, yet universal narratives of struggle, healing, separation, and belonging.

Agenda:

  • 6:00-6:30p doors open; snacks and refreshments

  • 6:30-7:00p a presentation from Grace Talusan

  • 7:00-8:00p refreshments, networking, and conversations“
